Benefits of Installing a Glass Splashback in Your Kitchen

During a kitchen remodel, you'll have various splashback options to select from, making it hard to settle on just one. To help you work out what's best for your home, here are several benefits of printed glass splashback.

Endless Print Choices

A printed glass splashback gives endless design alternatives. You can pick an image from online websites with thousands of illustrations and photos, or your splashback supplier may have pictures you can use. Alternatively, source original artwork and convert it to a digital format. Having so many picture alternatives makes it easier to design your kitchen overall. You can determine the benchtop first, as it offers fewer variations. And you can then pick a splashback image to harmonise with everything else.

Diverse Aesthetics

The glass panels can adapt to any kitchen style and colour scheme with the right picture. You can print a scenic view of a forest or grasslands. Otherwise, you might prefer a botanical picture of sinuous foliage and leaves. Alternatively, spread texture photos across the glass. For instance, print a creamy marble image with charcoal and black streaks to give your splashback a faux natural stone effect. Or else, what about red brickwork, mosaic tiles, or travertine stone?

You need to check that the image is of good quality and high resolution. Your glass contractor can give you advice on the format and size of the files they require. Don't forget about the picture proportions, which should accommodate a typically low and wide splashback area. You'll need a wider image rather than a tall, skinny image.

Easy to Clean

The splashback's purpose is to protect walls from grime and food. Thus, whatever substance you cover the area with needs to be easy to clean. Glass provides a hygienic, non-porous surface that you can simply wipe with a cloth. The seamless panels aren't covered in grout lines that catch debris and dirt. Thus, a glass splashback will look shiny and fresh after several years, whereas tiles and grouting will likely look grubby and worn by that time.

Resilient and Safe

There's no need to feel insecure with printed glass splashbacks because they use specially treated toughened safety glass, which is about four times stronger than standard window panes. Though the splashback panels are unlikely to break, they crumble into rounded cubes and not pointy shards if they do. They're also heat resistant, so warmth emanating from your oven won't cause any problems.
